Un Chien Andalou

I really am lost for words when it comes to this film. I am not really sure as to what we were supposed to get from the piece. It was extremely hard to follow and some parts were pretty disturbing. Especially the opening credits where the man razor cuts a woman's eye out. However, it was a surrealist film, therefore it's purpose was probably to show unexpectedness and confusion. The randomness that occurs in the movie is a direct result of the surrealist movement.

Mona Lisa

I believe that Marcel Duchamp was trying to make a statement when he edited the infamous Mona Lisa painting. L.H.O.O.Q was placed on the bottom of the piece in order to make fun of how serious of a painting it was. Art was changing with impressionism and exact, serious portraits like that of Mona Lisa were being replaced. Duchamp was using a play on words in order to make the viewer think that the Mona Lisa was horny. The mustache he drew across her face was also implying the same. It is completely comical.
